Reviewer: Peter B. MacIntyre, "HTML Web Publishing - 6 in 1 is one of
the better books on the subject that I have seen. It takes the reader
(web designer) from step one all the way through to confident, competent
web designing and publishing."

HTML Demystified

Before discovering Todd Stauffer's, excellent volume, I'd only dabbled
in the world of HTML, but I knew what most of the buzzwords and
acronyms meant. What a bonus to find a book, that put what I needed
all in one place.

HTML Web Publishing - 6 in 1 is segmented in six major sections with
several "lesson" chapters within each. The sections are creating web
pages, web graphics, enhancing web pages, scripting, dynamic HTML,
and web publishing tools.

With the new or casual user in mind the author begins with a basic
introduction covering concepts and definitions. Designing a few quick
sample web pages in the latter lessons of the opening section provides
the reader with an early opportunity to try out what is being covered.

From the basic building blocks of the opening lessons the author quickly
moves us along, adding levels of complexity in manageable pieces. Many
excellent samples are provided to the reader on both web design and
HTML writing. Further research can be done using the many
web addresses that are furnished.

This book would have been that much better if the author had included
a disk or CD-ROM of the shareware packages mentioned throughout;
and more directly covered in the last section on web publishing tools.

Also, with all the HTML language tags that were discussed and
defined over the course of the book a concise listing or quick
reference would have been helpful, as an appendix.

Since HTML Web Publishing was targeted to the new and casual user,
the entire sections on 3 dimensional web design and JavaScripting
seemed a tad too complex for that audience. However it serves as
an excellent future reference to those subjects and it is beneficial to
have these topics under the same cover.

Todd Stauffer shows us how to design good web pages, add useful links,
make and process data entry forms, add graphics, sound and video, and
create interface frames. All the bells and whistles that we might
want to add to our web pages are covered and explained well. The
tools and examples are here to help the reader get a decent web page
up-and-running in just a few days.

HTML Web Publishing - 6 in 1 is one of the better books on the subject
that I have seen. It takes the reader (web designer) from step one all
the way through to confident, competent web designing and publishing.
